Forgiveness: An important lesson for kids

It’s a happy time for you when your kids are nicely sitting and playing with sibling or a friend at playdate. And then all of a sudden you hear the screams and one trying to hit the other. You getting mad at them and they both are correct and both are wrong. You are trying to sort out but none is ready to understand because what they want to do is hit the other one, maybe because that is what satisfies them. We just think that why can’t the elder one just understand and “forgive”. Why doesn’t the younger one just obey the elder one and be gentle and forgiving. Well! Teaching our kids to be forgiving is very important but how is the big question. These are few tips I follow with my 2 kids. 1.        Release out : As elders even kids need to vent out their feelings, anger and frustration. To make my kids confident I always ensure that they vent out. If the kids don’t vent out properly they tend to bottle negative emotions and learn to live in stress. ...

How to time your kids TV and Gadgets time?

The little ones know how to use the gadgets better than parents. Some parents feel proud of their kids for such an achievement but for most it’s a topic of concern. It was a big concern when I went and interacted with other fellow parents in the soccer class that 2 year old or maybe 3 year old are fixed to mobile phone. It has become an easy way for parents to keep their kids quiet and busy by just giving them a phone or IPad to watch a cartoon show on YouTube while they finish their job. We were in the soccer class when one 5 year old was playing the game but the little one was just not ready to sit so the poor mother had no other option rather than giving her the phone with her favourite cartoon on. I do the same several times to keep my kids busy. When I have to finish my household core or maybe some pending office work, the best way to keep my kids busy and not disturb me is give them phone or put their favourite movie on TV. But the alarming part for me was when my kids st...

HAPPY MUMS MAKE A HAPPY FAMILY….GO FOR A ME TIME!!!

ME time! What? Who is going to take care of all that is pending at my home? My kids, their homework, folding cloths, cooking, cleaning….I don’t have time to sleep and here we talk about “ME TIME”. I have to go to office as well.  Yes but a good family and kids can be raised by a happy mother. At times it’s good to slow down a little to run faster later. Everyone needs a break from the monotonous routine. The downtime will give you the stamina to run that extra mile. It just looks like we can’t take a break but slowly this get into the routine and we all will start looking forward for the “ME TIME”. A happy relaxed mother can complete the work faster than a completely drained out mother. So don’t neglect yourself. Find three hobbies: ·          One to earn you money….that’s possibly your job ·          One to keep you in shape ·          One to bring...

10 Things to keep in mind while decorating your kid’s room.

Bedroom is a place where like adults kids find their own space and develop ownership to their belongings. It’s a place where they will feel comfortable and relax. You can keep in mind few tips while doing your kids room. 1.        Height of organisational units should be kept low matching their height. Kids will use closets, toy racks, coat racks more often if they are within their reach. This will help kids to be more organised. 2.        Colour scheme of the room can be stereotype like pink for girls and blue for boys. But giving a wider choice of colour will help them widen their horizon in life and break monotony in life. 3.        Wall stickers are the best option to do the wall especially for growing kids. Their likes and dislikes change with age. This is a less expensive option and easy to do. Let your kids do the wall decals. Let them choose and place it on the w...

How to tame a cranky grade school kid?

All parents dream of the taking the most well-mannered kids out with them. But the best of the child can be very cranky. Going to market with a grade school kid can at times be a big challenge for parents. They have their set of demands which can be at times very unreasonable. They will be stuck on that one toy that is of no use and very expensive. They often make it a habit of getting a toy each time they go for grocery shopping. As a mother I really can’t handle my budget because of these tantrums by my child.  There are instances when the young school graders aged 6-8 years don’t even understand the worth of time. My 7 year old can tell me the time by looking at the clock but she fails to understand the importance of it. It would be almost school time when she will be stuck with her fantasies. Calling out for the time and that she would be late at times have no effect on her. These kids are in their own small world. I really feel like a culprit when I have to break her fan...

Are we Over-Scheduling our kids?

The world is so competitive for kids these days. The competition is not amongst the kids, rather I feel the competition amongst mothers. How many activities does your child goes to after school depicts whether you are a concerned mother? Does it really? Well I got into the race as well. Madly I was searching on internet for the activities my kids should join. Asking all the parents in school about different activities available in my area. I think that’s how mothers go mad about their first child. I was under immense pressure that my child should not be left out from any opportunity. Being a good mother it is my duty to provide all the opportunities to my child. So a mother of a friend of my daughter suggested for Taekwondo classes. A mother in me thinks self-defence is very important for girl child. So I enrolled her for the same. Then living in a country surrounded by water it’s important for the child to learn to swim. Then my daughter loves to dance so I should be looking fo...

Kids can be so UNCERTAIN

Each mother dreams that her kids are the best in the world. All mother’s day and night work to hone the best out of their kids. We all look into their mannerism, the way they communicate with others and you, the way they carry themselves. All the mother’s try to give them best of everything so that when their little ones step into the outside world they render the best of behaviour. Don’t we mother spend all most all day correcting our kids. Telling them how to be humble and gentle with everyone. That’s what I also do as a mother. I feel very good when my kids display the best of behaviour at home and outside. I feel like a good mother when my kids say pleasing words like “thankyou”, “sorry”, “please” …. I am at the top of the world when my elder one tells the younger one that you need to be kind to everyone. She tells him” that’s a rude word you have used and you must apologise”. And in return to this one my younger one at times listen to her and says” okaaaay! I am sorry”. Thou...
