10 Things to keep in mind while decorating your kid’s room.

Bedroom is a place where like adults kids find their own space and develop ownership to their belongings. It’s a place where they will feel comfortable and relax. You can keep in mind few tips while doing your kids room.

1.       Height of organisational units should be kept low matching their height. Kids will use closets, toy racks, coat racks more often if they are within their reach. This will help kids to be more organised.

2.       Colour scheme of the room can be stereotype like pink for girls and blue for boys. But giving a wider choice of colour will help them widen their horizon in life and break monotony in life.

3.       Wall stickers are the best option to do the wall especially for growing kids. Their likes and dislikes change with age. This is a less expensive option and easy to do. Let your kids do the wall decals. Let them choose and place it on the wall. When they put the decals they develop the ownership and will take good care. You can help them merge themes and hone their creativity.

4.       Glowing stars can be put up on the ceiling. This will excite them to get into the bed early as they would love to watch them glow when the lights are off.

5.       Down time space should be carefully planned. After all day of hard work at school, the kids love to sit on a bean bag or a hammock for their down time. This gives them time to dream and give them a break from their tight schedule. This can be placed near their study table. They can concentrate for their homework at the study table and follow with a down time.

6.       Make space in the room by shifting the heavy furniture like bed and closets to the walls. This not only makes more space to play in the room but also make bed safer for the kids to sleep.

7.       Sharing the bedroom doesn’t necessarily means that the room has to be completely alike in the same theme. You can choose two themes and compliment the bed colour and lamp with the theme.

8.       Creativity corner can work fantastic with kids. Use a chalk paint to make a creativity corner where kids can paint. This helps to save the walls of your house. Keep the colours and paint closer to that area. The kids learn that they are allowed to paint but only in this area.

9.       Lighting is an important aspect for kid’s room. The room should be well ventilated with way for natural light. This adds to the positivism of the room. Especially the area where you place study table should have good reading light. Also they should have proper light so that they can easily use washroom at night time.

  10. Memory corner can be a beautiful idea. Each year/month you can take hand prints of your kids on the memory corner with kid’s safe paints. You can see your kids growing up. Both you and your kids will love to see the precious memory created.

Doing up your kid’s room is the most amazing way to make your kids move in their own room. Once they have helped you do their room they develop the association with their room and would love to sleep there and keep it tidy.
Have a good time decorating your kid’s room.

How to time your kids TV and Gadgets time?

The little ones know how to use the gadgets better than parents. Some parents feel proud of their kids for such an achievement but for most it’s a topic of concern. It was a big concern when I went and interacted with other fellow parents in the soccer class that 2 year old or maybe 3 year old are fixed to mobile phone. It has become an easy way for parents to keep their kids quiet and busy by just giving them a phone or IPad to watch a cartoon show on YouTube while they finish their job. We were in the soccer class when one 5 year old was playing the game but the little one was just not ready to sit so the poor mother had no other option rather than giving her the phone with her favourite cartoon on. I do the same several times to keep my kids busy. When I have to finish my household core or maybe some pending office work, the best way to keep my kids busy and not disturb me is give them phone or put their favourite movie on TV. But the alarming part for me was when my kids st

The external factors could be: 1.        Presence of unhealthy food at home : If the eating table has unhealthy food options visible, the child will certainly choose the same. But if we stop bringing such unhealthy options at home the child will have to look for something healthy that
